Maybe double model, which I have never see? Don't know, but you need 12.5 x 26. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

I have one of these and I always thought the dual meant a dual action pump instead of a single stroke type. That's just a guess. I never saw one with dual jugs so I don't think that's what it means. Jack should know....? I also had a 177 that had the 24" cylinder and there's not much difference in them except for the access door size....GB

While I added a few of the cylinder measurements to that section of my Gas Pump Bible, most of it came from Tim Rohr. I thanked him for the contribution on the first page of that section.

My book says "Dual Piston" not dual action.

Well, I know my cylinder measures 12.5 x 26, but just for the sake of the conversation here, I only see one pumping piston housing. Or at least what looks to me like only one.
Can anyone give me the breakdown on the serial number?

I don't think the number on that tag is a serial number. The bluebook I have lists the 176 serial numbers as 539009-809698. Not sure if the serial number was on another tag on those or not. The oval tag like yours pictured was half gone on mine but the rectangular Underwriters Laboratory tag was on it and there is a six digit No. on it that starts with 643... Maybe that is the serial number? It would fall in the range above. My pump looks just like yours, a single cylinder. The date of manufacture of the 176 is 6-20-31 - 12-16-38 inclusive according to the blubook. That's it for the info I have....GB

just to answer this properly, from Jacks site.
The dual, is dual action pumping with both the stokes of the handle.
