Me and my father in law are in the middle of restoring this Tokheim 39 tall pump and was wondering if someone could explain the door latch system on these things or better yet, take a few pics of theirs assembled. I’m specifically looking for where the vertical door latch mechanism mounts on the side of the pump and also the part where it mounts horizontally on the base. I’ve attached two pics showing the latch rod/mechanism, obviously there’s a few parts missing. I appreciate any help or photos that anybody can share.

I can send you pictures of what your looking for tomorrow...as long as I don't forget. By the looks of the flat rod (that's rusted off) I'm thinking you have a cast iron base, this makes a difference because the stamped steel base has a slightly different setup.

Thanks so much fellas. Feel free to post anymore pics! I do see what you’re saying...the top picture looks like that might be what I have based on that “twisted end” bar. I’ll get a hold of him tomorrow and see which base style I have and report back.

After speaking with him and looking at the posted pics above, I do definitely have the cast iron base version.
Gatorgaspumps or Tom, do either of you guys have anymore pics of that style set-up? Like more pics of the bottom and maybe the side where it bolts onto the frame?? Also, does that latch assembly somehow latch the top of the door too, or just the bottom? Thanks again for your time in helping me
John

John on this picture you can barely see where the latch attaches to the frame of the pump. I don't have any other pictures of the bottom. You will be able to work the latch assembly through the side access door. When you pull on the lever it will lift the lower assembly. The two side extensions of the lower part of the assembly will slide into slots on you door. The middle one will lift the door up so it will slide in between your top and the stainless trim on the top. Richard

Here's a few pics of a pump that I restored (sold already). Although this is a stamped base, hopefully the 'before' pics help you. In the 'after' pic you can see the slots at the bottom of the door. The tabs on the bar at the bottom go into those slots. As you push down on the handle, it lifts the entire door up. The top of the door should fit behind the stainless trim. Some 'tweaking may be necessary ( do this before paint). you can also fine tune the fit by adjusting the hinges several different ways (if yours has hinges - some models were just lift off doors with a key at the bottom).
