White Crown globe. Patent # on mounting collar is 1604773. Does that date the globe between 1926-1930 or 1950's-1960's? Same patent date on Texaco mounting collar had it patented to Gilinder& Sons Glass . Philandelphia,Pa. Texaco globe was embossed milk glass. Dated the globe 1926-1930 ..

White Crowns were used from 1932 to 1956 according to the globe books. I would assume the patent is for the ring itself and doesn't have anything to do with the date of the globe. One thing that helps date crowns are arrows or slashes around the bottom ledge. The earlier ones have arrows....yours appears to be slashes which would be a later one but I don't know any certain date/timeframe they made this design change.
At any rate, I feel the copper rings themselves are older as most later crowns have aluminum ones. My Blue Crown is dated 3/41 and has a copper ring and arrows around the bottom ledge.

Hi Darin. Is the date stamped in the copper ring? Is there a patent# stamped in the copper ring? Thanks. Dan

No Dan, my blue crown is acid etched in the glass with the date on the underside of the crown.....there are a few crowns where they did this back in the day.

Thank you Darin. I am in contact with Gillinder Glass. They are checking on the years that they produced gas pump globes!! They asked me for pictures of my White Crown. I will let you know what they report. My White Crown has the "arrows" and a " copper ring" Patent# is stamped in "copper ring".
