Am I seeing this wrong or is others seeing the same thing. Ebay just sent a notice that I would have to give them my bank info, ss number, and then they would pay me after something sold in a couple of days. Not sure, but I think that I will pull my listings and stop using this. Really hate to do it, but this just seems wrong. Anybody have any thoughts on this ?

I did not receive such an email from eBay, Craig. You might want to check this out further, directly with eBay. Could well be a scam. John

This smells like a phishing scam. eBay wouldn't ask for that information. I'd forward the email to spoof@ebay.com.
Below is from eBay
Recognizing legitimate contacts from eBay If we need to contact you about your account, you can expect the following:
We’ll include your eBay username on any emails, as well as the first and last name registered on your account. An eBay customer service agent phoning you will know these details as well We’ll never ask you to provide confidential information like your password or credit card details We’ll only include links for convenience. No link will require you to submit confidential information on the next page We won’t include attachments. If you receive an unsolicited email with an attachment, don’t open it We’ll never use threatening language We’ll always send a copy of any important messages to your eBay Messages

Yeah definitely a scam, I had heard ebay is changing there payments to paying right away rather than getting a bill two months later. I havent confirmed they are going that route.

This is legit. eBay is eliminating PayPal and making payments straight to your bank account. If you go into EBay and look in your seller account it will be listed in there. If you don’t do this you will not get paid as EBay will hold your money.

Keith, I know eBay sold PayPal a while ago, but haven't heard a peep about eBay dropping PayPal as a payment method. I looked at my sellers account and don't see any mention of any changes like you describe. I've sold things in the past week, gotten paid through PayPal and made fee payments to eBay using PayPal. If anyone else has heard about this please chime in.
Regards, Jim

They are phasing this in not all at once. I had to do it this last week. I have also been notified by EBay of payments is the items I just sold. EBay takes their fees out up front so no longer a monthly bill. I am assuming the Social Security Number is for reporting to the IRS. PayPal a year ago was requiring my SSN but I did not provide it to them so I could only do lump sum deposit to my bank account.

Talked with Mike Slama an hour ago and he said the same thing. Ebay is now doing as I said. You have till the 1st of the year. He even said that his new ads will. not come out until he does what they say. I am re-evaluating my thoughts on this because I do not use many other venues.

Basically your money goes straight into your bank account less EBay fees. No more PayPal fees. I am guessing IRS reporting will be similar to what PayPal does. You have to do it or no selling on EBay.

Article below discusses this. https://www.crowdfundinsider.com/20...pands-service-in-france-italy-and-spain/I still think there is a scammer trying to hit Craig, they are just using the news to help the scam have credence. Easy way to know if legit or not, is dont use the links in the possible scammer email and see if there is anything in ebay messages directly. I have not seen any changes myself and I just sold something on ebay about an hour ago.

Just make sure you do your updates directly in EBay and not a link to EBay. My seller account had it listed in there. Like I mentioned before, it is being phased in.

Still a total scam. No one will ask you in an email for your SS#. You don’t even need your ss# to sign up for PayPal. And your bank already has it.
If it is legit, they will tell you to go to their page and sign up. Never give a SS# in an email reply. Total scam.
And lastly, do not click any links in an email that take you to eBay. It will be a fake page that looks like ebay’s page but it isn’t. And if you hover over the link, it will probably not be an eBay link. If you need to make changes alway go to eBay directly from your browser. And contact them direct if you have any questions.
