I'm confused. Nobody said anything about shill bidding until after your post about wondering why old timers don't post and burning the banner. It seemed like everything was going fine until the top of page 2, where all of the sudden, out of the blue, there was a train wreck.

I feel that Doc should have won the auction, but if you want to take your ball and go home (and burn it), I guess it's your call.

I'd have loved to have that banner since I collect socony stuff. That would have had a prominent spot in my collection.I would have paid more than I bid but at auction you want to try & buy as cheaply as possible.I was interested from the moment I saw it.It's yours to do with as you please Hope you enjoy it.I know I would have as would doc.

Got Socony???

WOW, ALOT SURE HAPPENED AFTER I WENT TO BED LAST NIGHT AND AFTER I THREW IN THE TOWEL @ $180. THAT IS TRULY A NICE BANNER AND WOULD'VE PAID UP TO $200 FOR IT. I THINK I KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHAT WENT DOWN WITH THE WITHDRAWAL (I'M ASSUMING). I'M ALSO ASSUMING I DIDN'T WIN IT FOR THE $180 BID I THREW AT IT?

I assume moparman had good intentions when this thing started. I don't know the reason, but it looks like the auction has been withdrawn. He did offer an auction here in the past and it went to completion, if memory serves.

We'll have to ask that any item offered for auction here with bids to be posted on Shop Talk must have all the rules posted up front. If there is a reserve, say there is.
