Hey guys 'n Gals!

It's that time of the month again -- time to share the petro relics that we've stumbled across in our recent travels, and check out what other people have found as well.

While driving around looking for an antique store (which turned out to be closed) I ran across this awesome pump, on display outside of a realty office. I think it's a Rapidayton...



While on the way home, I came across this neat old station in a small town:

Now, on the advice of George Sager, I went out seeking an old standard station that he had seen years before. Sure enough, the station was just where he said it was -- check out the Wayne 70s:

While visiting my girlfriend in Wisconsin, I ran across this incredible collection:






Check out that Phillips 66 Ethyl, and that Oilzum!! Awesome stuff - I would never let this stuff sit outside and rust and get faded, that's for sure.

Hello

I just found a Smithway pump on the edge of a timber near a friend’s corn field. The pump was buried in the mud laying face down. The mud must have added one hundred pounds to the already heavy pump. I was just wondering if parts were hard to find on these pumps. I don’t see parts in anyone’s catalogue nor is the pump given much mention in any of my books I have here at home. One on items I need for sure is the cast emblem door latch site glass located in the middle of the door. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciated it. I would post a photo if I new how any help would be good.

Hey thermactor, where in Wisconsin is that barn? Do a lot of riding up there, might be in the neighborhood someday.

Hey Wes is that barn near Wausau, WI? I remember seeing a barn like that near there but that was almost 5 years ago and the signs were up.

I road tripped to Springfield/Ozark, MO area on Saturday to go to some antique stores. These pictures are from a mall west of Springfield about 6 miles. They have a wide variety of petro stuff in the mall. These signs range from NOS to severly touched up and pricey on all accounts. Here are the pictures:

Nice pics, Scott! I sure like those Diamond 760s...

Aaron, I assume that a lot of the signs that are up high on the barn must have been there a while, because this is the barn you're thinking of. They've just recently been adding more toward the bottom, and the Pure, as well as all the signs "growing" in the field. Looks like they're going to put up the Amoco in the field next to the Citgo.

Here is a picture of an American Oil Pump and Tank Co pump that was at a farm auction the other week. I had hopes of buying it cheap, clean it up and make a few bucks on it but it did not go cheap. It was a very solid pump. The auction company broke the MFA globe that was on it. It was made in Cincinnati Ohio.

I really enjoy this thread. Thanks to all who are sending pics.
My wife and I stopped at this little Frontier station in Laramie, Wyoming in hopes of buying something with the Frontier logo on it. They had nothing. No travel mug or even a plastic bottle of oil, but did enjoy seeing the logo on their pumps, sign and one on the rear of their old International truck.
Also in Laramie, we found the Ford dealership had these pumps and Coke cooler in their window. Too bad they were closed at the time we stopped. Too bad they didn't have the clockfaces lit up. They had something there for everyone...even a nice play area for the kids

In reference to the barn of signs...this guy is for the most part picking up lower dollar signs that look good on the barn but not real "minty"...unless he gets them cheap. I believe he is not really a collector per say just a decorator of this barn.
I sold him the plastic Mobil, the Deep Rock,and the Perfect Gasolines last year. Some of the others are from me also,but cannot recall which ones. He also bought an original glass "flame" for the Standard sign. I see he maybe has had second thoughts on putting it on. He buys a few signs then seems to not show up again for a few years.
He is a very nice guy and I hope everyone and their brother don't beat a path to his "barn" as he is not selling this stuff.
