What does it cost to have a sign like that restored?

Did any body notice that the second high bidder at this point has had 46% of his bid history with the same seller? The same bidder has retracted more bids in the last 6 months that I have in 8 years. Not sure if it really means anything, it was just interesting to see the numbers.

Good observation Rick. !

I can't imagine paying that kinda coin for a sign that was that bad,,, might as well make a new one,, whats the difference ? Still can't beat the good stuff..

The guys who did this sign were at Iowa, they charged around $1000. They thought that with restoration and the purchase of the original sign the value should be pegged at 50% of and original. I thought that was interesting.

Interesting thought about the sign being worth 50%..... I would think a mint completely original sign would be BIG money......So someone might get a good buy here!

I think restored rare signs usually bring around 25%-35% of a mint original. A 3x5 mint Powerlube might bring 10-12K So $2500 to $4000+ might be a good estimate on this restored piece. Just my opinion.

Yeah those same two guys were at Columbus Gas in June, I think they are a father and son team. They do nice work, but I thought it was Too nice for my tastes.
They actually look phony, so at least they won't be past on as originals.. Originals never looked that good.. at least not OLD originals.. So what is the real value, all depends on the buyers at the time.. Might as well buy a repro for less money..?
