I was thinking about bidding on this, but don't know if it is right or not. Looks good from the front, but the back looks like the junk from Argentina. Guy has a vague story of it coming from Missouri, but I have never seen this sign in this size before. Any help would be appreciated as I am very unsure here. 100% feedback on the guy so I don't think he is trying anything. I am just unsure of the sign.

My knowledge is limited, but that rust and patina on the back looks more natural than those Argentina fakes.

This came off the sellers listing!

".....some idiot named ROGER C. has cast doubt on this sign on the oldgas.com website......" they are nothing more than a host for idiots in my opinion"

Sign looks good to me, but I think the seller needs to realize there are many "idiots" out there doing fakes to fool buyers into buying their junk, so a little detective work is in order! JMO

He must read and not post.
He is the idiot for getting mad because someone is wanting to make sure there not going to get burned.
I would stay clear of him... he seems like trouble just by what he wrote on ebay.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

His ad states if you have any questions to fire away. When a question is asked he is quick to point out that you and the oldgas sight are idiots. His ad also states "It is guaranteed to be 100& old and unmolested." What does that really guarantee?
This reminds me of the time when a salesman told my Dad only a FOOL would not buy his product. The salesman got an earful and DID NOT make a sale that day.
It's a good looking sign but calling people idiots does not help out in my opinion. Maybe I'm too much like my Dad.

Roger, I looked at this sign and thought the same thing you did, But by his responce I would say stay clear of it , would he get so upset if you took a car he was selling to a machanic to have it checked out ,or would he want you to buy it with out a test drive? Too me his responce indicates a problem.

I have had almost no problems on eBay. Probably because I'm wary of anything that looks like it is not right with the item or the seller.

When I look at the auction description, the feedback and questions answered, I sometimes see sellers who rant against people, calling them names and ridiculing them. I wonder then, what if I would have a problem or question after I bought an item from this seller? Would I get ridiculed in front of everyone on eBay? I don't bid on auctions where the seller appears to be agitated or mean spirited.

Wow, I just now read what was going on and clicked on the auction to see what the guy did actually say about me. Man, it feels good to be an idiot with my money still in my pocket. I am sorry the guy feels about me the way he does but I can't help that. What is funny though, I have NOT recieved a call from the guy at all like he said on ebay. He said he hopes I call him back so he can tell me in person. Well, if he reads this, whick I am assuming he will, please call me again because I did not get the first call you said you made. We can talk things over on the phone and maybe you can straigten me out. But you have to call the idiot for me to call you back.

Next, I would like to thank Jim Potts and everyone on here for helping me now and in the past. I have gotten burned like alot of people on repos and don't want to again. I appreciate everyones input when I simply don't know. On this sign, I liked it, but just did not know because of the back. I am sorry to be a idiot, but thats fine if that is what people think.

No one has said sign in question is a Fake, but the seller's attitude has raised a red flag.
You would think he would want his bidders to be informed before bidding ?
I don't see a 100% return policy mentioned.

Dick, the problem with the 100% return policy is that the seller doesn't always get back the item that he originally sent, OR sometimes not in the condition that it was sent to the buyer ?? When I sell on Ebay I don't offer that option either, BUT, I have done it under certain circumstances...to me, make sure you know what your buying when you bid..

Too bad the seller was so defensive. It is very likely a legitimate sign and a rare one at that.
