Wow, read this and tell me what you think. I believe the guy is either one big l#$r or been duped to the fullest. Anyway, this is a KNOWN reproduction. We have talked about this over and over, they never made this sign in this size. Also, the one next to it looks like the one that has sold a dozen times already. Given the guys good feedback, he may have been duped, or he may be selling for his buddy. Beware of this sign.

I'm in agreement with Roger on this sign, BUT I believe there was a regular 30" Super Service sign made. The circle is 30", overall 36", I think. I know of 2 that sold on ebay, one was sold by a guy I know and I think he is a very honest person and it was the real deal. Neither one of the 30" signs were marked Walker & Co.
Also, there were 2 copies of "Approved Modern Signs for Chevrolet Dealerships" booklets sold on ebay for $715 and $515 ( a little to rich for my blood). These were supposedly booklets that Chevrolet provided to the dealers to order signs. I did copy the pictures of one that sold and one of the pictures on the auction was a page of the Super Service signs. It's hard to read, but it shows a double-sided can sign (not neon) that bolted to the side of the building and below it says "Small Size", Medium Size" and "Large Size". There is a description under each size but the writing is too small to read. I wish someone had access to one of those booklets, that would answer the question if they made a 34" neon can sign.
Does anyone else have anything they can share?
Brent

I have a 30 inch Chevy Super Service sign that measures 30 inches in diameter and 36 inches where the sides stick out. It is not a neon and is not marked but I do believe it to be original.

Notice the sign in question is 27 1/2 across the round and 33 1/2 where the sides stick out.

Keith, that's the size I think is the real deal and much rarer than the 42".

Roger, still agree with you. That can sign he's showing has been on ebay about 10 times. I don't think there would be a 30" and a 27 1/2".

The sign is definetly a repop...the lines on the back were put there intentionally trying to replicate coming off the rack but they did a poor job of it, whenever you see all those marks...run away...mm

I have a question ? I know nothing about these signs but,,,, If the sign is repop-ed with the dimensions it has, does that make the full can sign next to it a repo ? They look to be the same size ??? Or is it just the photo ?

I have a question for the sign guys too. I dont collect them and know nothing, but love following your posts on here about all the fakes out there. So heres my question: If someone is going to all the time, trouble and $$ to try to come up with a forgery that will dupe even experienced collectors, wouldnt they get the dimentions correct before anything else? I can see how it migh be hard to get the exact right color or font, but the dimention would be the easiest to do.

Answer to John, (Vermonter), the people that try to fool others with these fakes don't always have an original to go by or even know the correct size. Sometimes, all they have is a picture of the sign. You are right though, it seems they could at least get the size right.

Sometimes reproductions are made in a non-standard size so they are recognized as repros..

And later on someone gets it and represents it as the real thing..

The light blue in the neon matches the books lighter blue vs the sign in question.
Did they make these signs in the dark blue?
