Let's have some fun on Old Gas cry crazy laugh

Saw in the paper the other day, there was going to be an auction on Saturday and it was listed there was to be a gas pump. Alice said, "Let's go and check it out". I agreed, thinking it was going to be a wasted trip, that the pump would probably be a rusted out 60's or 70's pump. Off we go. When we arrived at the auction, Alice got so excited. Her eyes about popped out of her head! She said, "Oh my gosh, it's a Wayne 60 wide body. It would make a great display pump". I said o.k. (Note: She collects Wayne 60's). When we went into the auction tent, I looked at Alice and asked her if she wanted to do the bidding on the pump. She agreed. The auction started. Seemed like everything was going high. I guess everybody there had gotten their stimulus package, but us! Now comes the time, the Auctioneer says we're gonna sell the pump. Let's start the bid at $1000.00. There was complete silence. Then somebody hollered out $500.00. I looked over at Alice and her hand was going up and down so fast I couldn't believe it. The bidding went so quick and fast. The Auctioneer said SOLD!!

Now....Let's have some fun.
How much do yall think this pump sold for, with buyers premium?
$$$$____________
What is the most yall have ever heard of one selling for, unrestored? $____________

And they say we're in a recession/depression?????

Larry,
If your farm auctions are like ours you paid about twice as much as what it would sell at a gas show. LOL
I went to an auction Friday and my stepdad asked me about a Bennett 966 that had a restore done with what looked like spray can paint. I told him well repop texaco signs and globe and pump in that condition $700 tops. It sold for aound $1200. I was shocked!
I am guessing $3500 on the Wayne 60 Wide body. It is a real nice pump!

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

I am going to guess $2300 for your wife's pump. I have seen one sell at a farm auction once for $2100.

Thanks, Phil

I was there Saturday to bid on the pump. However, my stimulus check must have been lost in the mail. Also, I have proof that Larry was at the auction. And can vouch for the winning bid.
