Time to go to the hospital to get my right knee replaced this morning. The surgeon offered me a 2 for 1 deal so I could get a brain transplant along with the knee. They found a gorilla that closely matched me but the gorilla wouldn't go for it. Just the knee this trip... Talk to all of you later.

The surgeon will most likely mention this to you, but I have to get my two cents in, too! You will probably (at the discretion of the surgeon) need to take antibiotics before dental treatment. We introduce bacteria into the bloodstream and they travel throughout the body. Without the antibiotic pre-medication, they can collect at the site of the artificial joint and cause a serious infection. Sorry to bore you, I just know not all doctors cover this with their patients and it's important. ;-)

Good luck Dave.
That is good to know Tara. I have heard about taking the antibiotics before dental work but never knew why.

You and Mr. Bill can get together and compare scars.
Where are they going to get a long enough gown for you?
A normal one will look like a mini skirt on you.
Good luck......

They also suggest antibiotics if you have heart problems when getting your teeth cleaned due to the introduction of bacteria to the bloodstream.

This is true, however the guidelines were changed about 2 years ago and some people with heart problems who required pre-med in the past no longer need it. Check with your doctor or cardiologist. :-)

Good luck with your knee replacement. It's a fairly long recovery time, but I'm sure you'll be happy with the result. In school, we got to watch a video of a knee replacement, then install them by ourselves on "Mr. Sawbones" skeletons. Pretty neat deal. What brand is the one you're getting?

Good luck with it Dave, my dad had one last summer. Some recover faster than others, main thing is stick with the therapy.

Thanks, Phil
