I WAS JUST GIVEN A TOKHEIM CLOCK FACE GAS PUMP THAT HAS NO ID TAGS ON IT. WHEN I LOOKED INTO THE TOKHEIM 850 CLOCK FACE I HAVE FOUND ONLY PICTURES OF ROUND CYLINDER TYPE BODIES. MY PUMP HAS A SQUARE BODY. IS THIS STILL A 850 MODEL? IS ONE MORE HARD TO FIND THEN THE OTHER?
I WILL POST SOME PICTURES OF IT TONIGHT
THANKS
JIM

if its an 850, yes there is a rectangle shaped lower body model.i am not positive but i do believe these are the more desirable of the two.heres a link to a square 850 http://www.gaspumps.info/gallery/v/pumps...g2_enterAlbum=0

Jim-- According to Jacks book, the 850 was made in both the round and square versions. The round version was first made in 1930 and had different innards than the pumps made in 1931 and after. The square version was first made in 1931.
Get yourself a copy of Jacks book, its invaluable when looking at buying an old pump that you don't recognize. You can buy them on this site at the top of the forum and it helps maintain the site.
Pretty nice pump to be just given! If you want to sell it, just post it in the for sale area, it probably won't last long! I'd even be interested! Congratulations! Lets see some pictures!

Not bad for a free gas pump!
Any idea on a value?
This is one of those situations where you can have this but you can't sell it.

Any time something is given to you, it becomes yours to do as you wish. If you were told you cannot sell it, then it was not given to you. It is a Loan.

I gotta get more friends like yours! That pump is cherry. I know what you mean about not selling it though. There's certain things people have given me that I'd feel funny about selling as they were given to me with the intention of me enjoying them. Plus, that pump would be too nice for me to part with!

I am now a proud owner of Jack's book, and I have to say the book is not what I expected but I loved every page. I still am not sure what I have. By the picture of the square body clock face the fuel discharge and the nozzle holder are on different sides, mine are on the same side like the picture of the 950. My face plate says 850 but its a reproduction. Did some 850s have the discharge & nozzle on the same side?

The 850/950 could be ordered or changed so the visi & noz were on the same side, depending on what the station owner wanted/needed.

"to say the book is not what I expected but I loved every page."
What were you expecting in the book ?

There is more pictures than words, thats my kinda book. I thought there would be more actual real pictures of pumps and different color schemes. It is a book I would recommend.
