Was there a version of the round Texaco "Gasoline - Motor Oil" with an all-white T in the middle?

The pic I am looking at is hard to see, it may be outlined (the T), maybe not. It kind of looks like read and white are the only 2 colors on the sign.

If it is real, how does this one compare in price to the classic green-outlined-in-black T sign?

What your seeing is probably a porcelain sign where the black and the green were baked on colors and they have faded off. Not all porcelain......Some signs like Amoco and Sinclair from the 40's era were porcelain process signs, but the other colors mainly black, were screened on as a color and were baked on. The black and green were not an actual part of the porcelain process. The reasoning for this could only have been either 1.availability or 2.money(cost). But that is what your seeing. Hope this helps.

This sign is a TEST or MISprint, because it lacks all the colors. Anytime you mass produce anything, you are bound to have a few mistakes.

Black & Green usually don't fade out like Red does. Black is one of the cheapest colors to make & fire.

TEXACO had thousands of signs made. Maybe one of the employees needed to cover a hole in his coop [and never did]and found this in the scrap bin at work.

I AGREE 100% WITH DICK. I'VE SEEN DOZENS OF TEXACO SIGNS INCLUDING TODAY AT MICHIGAN-GAS WHERE THE BLACK AND/OR GREEN WERE MISSING. SIMPLY A TEST I BELIEVE.

I FORGOT TO ADD THAT I BELIEVE THAT THEY DID THE FIRING IN STEPS. FIRST WHITE,RED-STAR OR LETTERING, GREEN, LAST WAS THE BLACK. YOU CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENT LAYERS/SHELVING. JUST MY OPINION.

Here is another version of a 42" Texaco sign most of these signs read Gasoline at the top not Texaco.
