I couldn't agree more, Dave! This has been an excellent month for FATW so far. Keep 'em coming!

Alan; Nice bug collection... a lot of my FATW postings are splattered. Sometimes wish I had a dash mounted camera to get those places that "pop up" along the road. I have a list of places I want to do a road trip to this summer in my pick up; small burg towns in northern Indiana with some nice old stations. A few still in operation. Chuck

These are in Ventura, Ca., 15 miles West of me. Built as a GOODYEAR station Originally a SEASIDE station w/ service bays in back Both pump islands have been enclosed. Note: Triangle on upper section. [GOODYEAR building is a flipped version of the one pictured in Editor's Col. of CHECK THE OIL mag this month]

When they built the Freeway thru town in 1969, a lot of stations were taken out. Off hand I know there were 3 SHELL, 3 TEXACO, 2 RICHFIELD, 2-3 UNION, MOHAWK, SUNSET, GOLDEN EAGLE, GILMORE [bought out by MOBILE], MOBILE, CHEVRON, VELTEX, BLACK CAT, SEASIDE, FLYING A. Later there was TERRIBLE HEARST, FAST FREDDY, ULTRA MAR. I think there are 7 today.
