Missed this for first time in 2 years, does anyone know if any good deals were there on pumps. They are usually high.

If you can afford $2,000,000 Hemi Cuda' Convertables then $11,000 gas pumps to set next to it is just a drop in the Bucket. I wish I could meet some of these Deep Pocket car guys for the money they pay for Restored Gas Pumps I would sit in my Garage and work on gas pumps everyday then call them up when they are Ready. That would be the Life to Have!!!!!!

I was just on the barrett-jackson website and was trying to view the pics of the cars, but even using their quick fix by holding control when clicking the view I cannot get it to work. I have an apple computer and don't have any pop up blockers on, can anyone tell me how to fix the problem.

I agree that the years I went the pumps were extremely high, example, 2 different dealers had very nice condition National a62 porcelain pumps, both wanted $5000 or more, I got a nice one(not as nice but still nice) for $500

Fun to watch........not practical for the average guy to participate in. And actually, today someone spent over $300K for a street rod. Any low risk investment of this money would double your money in around 5 or 6 years.

Wonder if that car will be worth that kind of $$ 5 or 6 years from now. Hard to say. Same with the pumps they are paying for.

Not reality here.

I heard that there are a lot of shenanigans that go on at the B-J auction...BJ has their own people in the audience pumping up the bids, buying some of the cars back to inflate the prices, etc...also heard that they blackballed one of the petro vendors this year, and let the others stay, cost tremendous $$ to set up there, heard one guy has 22k spent before he left his driveway. The part that hurts the average car nut is the inflated prices being shown here, then everyone thinks they have gold and nobody can afford anything. Would definitely like to get some of the prices shown. This televised show is great entertainment, but not reality, IMHO....my $.02...happy motoring!!!

Saw the Monkee Mobile sell last night.
When I was a kid I wanted that car, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world, even more than the Bat Mobile.

Guess that explains some cars topping $1 million. They said on Jackson Barrett that the sales on their auction ripple thru the market place affecting the car marketplace prices. This is a shame if they are doing things like this to get price up. How much did Monkeymobile go for? Seen it few years ago at car show.

The show started on tuesday and i have been watching cars sell all week....yes there is some high dollar cars but there is also some good buys on cars in the 30-60k range...in fact you couldn't restore some for that money....everyone talks about the big dollar cars but as in any auction there is some deals to be had...I saw a few Hemi Cuda's sell and they were no where near a million dollars.....mm

56chiefstar hit it on the head. B-J crows about being the trend setter on prices. This is self serving to the max. When you are in the business of soaking buyers and sellers combined upwards of 30% to 'sell' their cars and you charge very large attendance fees, etc. naturally you want to inflate the prices and then make this public because this auction is only the first of several slated for the year.

If you get a few celebrities like Leno, Patrick Dempsy, and Shelby to drop by this only adds to the hype. Shelby himself is a scoundrel. Look at all the dollars he is trying to gouge the Shelby American Automobile Club for, for using his name. Buddy, you're on borrowed time now with a loaned-out ticker and 81 years old. I think digging for money should be your last concern right now at this point in time.

The B-J auction is only entertainment and entertainment only. As John O'hern ALWAYS says auction prices are only good for that particular time and that particular place and between two people,,,this doesn't qualify for setting value on anything.

Yeah, I just go for the fun of looking and watching, too high. Do see some pumps sold there in past, guess some people got that kinda money to spend. Never been there during the petroliana auction but figure its too high too.

I too watched for the entertainment factor, but there was buys to be had, premiums and all.

Still too expensive for me, but I think the whole "Hemi Cuda" thing has cooled off.

Nice stuff, brought nice money, so so, brought so so.

It's funny to watch the head trying to get people to bid, by talking the items up saying "This is way under the money" well it's only worth what someone wants to pay at that particular time. It is an auction.

The charity stuff was fun to watch. I thought Leno was hysterical when they auctioned off that presidential limo, and he said that this was his first time there.

I think everything Shelby auctioned off was to benefit his charity. He has done this in the past. The guys an icon, whether you like him or don't.

And it happens every year, something sells big on there and everyone thinks theirs is worth the same or more.

Fun to watch. Cool cars. Cool event.

We were out there for the last 4 days of the show. If you have never been before..get out of your cold freeze back home in the east and go. The show is absolutely fantastic. The gold standard for auctions of this type.

Better then Kruse and the rest of the auctions out there. Excitement, top shelf cars, hundreds of vendors selling wealthy lifestyle items all the way to automobilia.

We have been going for 15 years now and won't miss it.

By the way, prices on automotive porcelain signs in good shape were thru the stratosphere;

60" Cadillac service 2-sided sign, with the rare gold V and unique type size lettering in the copy. $39,500.
