As some of you might remember I used to post what I called "Picture of the Day." I stopped doing that when I was putting together my last two books.
I have really been sorting my literature and have found a lot of things that might be of interest, or just fun to read, plus I have found a lot more pictures to show you. So if you see the above, it is just "For Your Interest."

OIL NEWS, June 20, 1923.

Chickasha Orders Filling Station to Close on Sunday

Tourists who happen to reach Chickasha, Oklahoma, and are in need of gasoline need not wait until Monday to resume their journey where filling stations have been ordered closed on Sunday. J.P. Wolverton announced that he would give gasoline to any tourist who proved that he was in need of enough gasoline to get him into the next county where a Sundasy closing law is not in effect. Direnctly following the passage of the law, garages and filling stations sold gasoline and the owners were arrested. They brought suit for damages in order to test the law. Jobbers throughout the country are watching the outcome of the suits.

That's really interesting. I wonder if it's related to the general dislike, especially among rural folks and farmers, of new-fangled automobiles in the early part of the century?

I recently heard that Bloomington, IN has a law that you can't sell cars on Sunday. I wonder if it's a holdover from the same sentiment?

Most churches were behind the NO ______ on Sunday. They wanted the population in church, not driving, not buying, not drinking etc. etc.

Now we need Paul HARVEY to tell us, "The rest of the story" and see what would make the city officials make such a law.
Thanks "For your interest" Jack,
Mike
