This can caught my eye at a recent auction, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen one like it?

Socony had several differemt graphic styles for their early cans; some were striped, others had cream-colored backgrounds, and others a dark blue background, as shown here;

Cans with the dark blue backgoround and graphic style are fairly common, and are found in 1 pound, 5 pound, quart, and gallon sizes among others. However, I don't recall having seen any cans with this light blue background before. Let me know if you've seen one or have one in your collection.

it looks as if the can maybe sun bleached as the red is also faded, or maybe not...

Minuteman...I was thinking the exact same thing, that it could be sun bleached. But when I looked closer I noticed all the letters on the light blue can are outlined, while they aren't on the dark blue one, as you can see in this picture;

Plus, the back and sides also appear to be the same color;

It was for sure a different color can! Dark blue around all text and the logo isn't the same either.It has some fading, but when new.... was a lighter blue.

I'm pretty much convinced now this can started life with a light blue/sky blue background. So thought I'd "bump" it back up in hopes any of the can guys (Dave, Don, Pat, Scott, or anyone else) might comment on whether it's one they've seen before. Seems rare to me, but I've been known to have a "senior moment" every now and then, so just checking!!
