I am fixing up a pump for a friend Who's dad had a Texaco station from the 30's to the 70's. He wants to paint the pump the Texaco silver-gray. Does anyone have the paint code for this?

The following applies to anyone who is seeking a paint code for a petroleum company. I use DuPont paint, but this should be the same for almost any paint company.
Go to the DuPont Auto Paint store. Ask them to look in the old Commercial or Fleet books for the company you want. In this case under Texaco you will find probably 3 or 4 reds, a silver, a green and a black. In the case of the red where there are more than one shade listed ask them to bring each one up in the computer. On each listing will be the date that this shade was used by Texaco. Do all of them and pick the year closest to the year of the pump. This applies to not only oil companies but every commercial company (Coca-Cola, Budweiser, etc.).

In case you run into a surly counterman who won't fetch the fleet books for you, you might try Bob's garage. He sells restoration parts and original color paints in acrylic enamel.

Here are some Texaco numbers from "The Texas Company Color Chart and Painting Standardization Manual" Dated June 1, 1939.
These are Texaco numbers and the paint may have come from any major supplier like Sherwin Williams, etc. They are brushable type paint. Texaco put a "T" (ie 14TX) in front of the code for automotive type paints.
Gas pumps:
Fire Chief, 14X Red
Sky Chief, 17X Aluminum
Indian Gas, 14X Red
They only list one number (14) for red and (17) for aluminum. They have four or five shades of green.
In any event if you can find a reference to the number 17 aluminum that would be the correct silver color from the late 30's.
