I have a Bennett 756 with a Veeder Root computer in it. It was a little rusty with some corrosion. I cleaned and freed up the gears. Trying to get the unit in working order so it will run with an 110v low rpm motor. The top dials work and move fine. The reset crank works fine. Can't get the bottom dials to run. Is there someone in the Grand Rapids, MI area, or even over by Saginaw and Lansing that works on these for a reasonable fee? Or someone that can trade out for one that has been serviced and is working?
If I leave it the way it is now it will look cool and the reset crank will work with bell ding, but will probably always wish I took it that little bit further with the 110v motor. Thanks for the help!

When you say dials are you talking about the gallon wheels? Or are you talking about the gears in the lower (variator) section of the computer?

Call your local distributor/service company & ask where they send VR's for repair.

I don't think a modern service company can help. I work for a company that sells Gilbarco-Veeder Root equipment and the mechanical stuff is few and far in between.

A few Az service companies send their VR's into Covina [L.A. area] for rebuilding the older styles.

If it is the variator section he is talking about it is a simple process to unscrew the top from the bottom and work on the gears and lubricate them. If it is the top and he is talking about the quantity wheels...THAT IS A WHOLE OTHER STORY - DON'T GO THERE at this point.

The AMOUNT OF SALE numbers (wheels) work. The GALLONS numbers do not. They seem stuck when I try to turn the input shaft that comes in from down below. What's wierd is I can turn the reset crank and all the wheels zero back out fine. Almost like a lock lever is stuck in place or something. Someone PM'd me from my area, so hoping to follow up and see if they can be of help.

Joe Yokum is the man for Veeder Root. If your going to send it anywhere I don't know why you would not send it to him....He is a Oldgas member and Does a F I R S T C L A S S job on them for a very resonable amount. He did the one for my ongoing 36b project and it makes the pump!

I got it working! First, the planetary gears underneath were out of place. 2nd, I had to shim the main shaft that comes up through to keep tension against gears above. Regarding the number wheels, on one side the little black plastic gear that turn the 2nd wheel when the first hits 9 - and the other little black plastic gear that turns the 3rd wheel when the second wheel hits 9 were froze up with corrosion. I did break off one little black plastic gear cog, but believe I can model cement it back in place. If not, I'm out the cost of buying one of those little gears. Now to buy a motor and get this thing to run off a hidden switch. Thanks for the links to other posts, tips, PMs and tips guys.
