Anyone see this TV movie? It's about finding & drilling for oil in Texas in the Early days. Lots of the props were done the old fashion way w/o power tools. Was on AMC here locally.

One of my top favorites. The best real portrayal of greed I have every seen. And it had that gritty " Clint Eastwood, Josie wales" feel to it. Great scenery, I thought it rocked.

I believe the movie is based on the life of Edward Doheny. Doheny was one of the people who originally discovered oil in Los Angeles and throughout California. I thought it was about the early California oil days, perhaps up in the Taft or Coalinga area, as I believe it referenced shipping oil to the Union Oil facility in Avila Beach.

It was about Calif. Oil instead of Texas Oil [location set was in Tx. Taft area & parts of Texas are about the same, Worthless Except for the Oil Fields!].
