I USUALLY GO TO EBAY AND BUY THEM IN "LOTS." SOME SELLERS OFFER ALL 50 STATES OR AT LEAST A GOOD 20-30 STATE BUNCH. I CAN GET THEM FROM $1.50-$2.00 IF YOU ARE PATIENT!

EBAY SEARCH: LICENSE PLATE LOT

It depends on the condition and the age of the plate on the price you will spend. The older and the better the condition, the higher the price. I have been putting a collection of plates together from here in California. I am going for one of each year to go around the top edge of my garage. I also am only buying the best condition I can find too, so it is not cheap. I have paid over $100 for a good condition plate which was 77 years old.

I have a small collection of Wis plates I bought about 15 yrs ago. Starting about 1946 going up into late 60s or 70s, all have the same number on them. I remember my grandfather had the same number assigned to him. Tossed them all. If interested give me a email.
