Hey guys; new to the forum, and have 2 Gilbarco Esso 1006 pumps, and am starting to restore the first one; I'm sure I will have more questions as I go, but here are my first few.
1)Does anyone have a picture of a 1006 id plate? Mine is worn to just brass, and want to paint the black back to where it would have originally been.

2)The faces are in good shape, except for a little rust around the mounting screw holes; any idea how to deal with this? Doesnt look like new faces for the 1006 are available online.

3)The curved glass on the top of both sides is missing (this is an esso extra pump); does anyone sell reproduction curved glasses with advertising for these pumps?

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

Welcome. I do not have a picture of the I.D. plate. Clean the faces with orange citrus cleaner and a white scotchbrite. Touch up with white paint and a small brush. Check Gas Pump Heaven for glass. He has some in his catalog. Good luck, Paul www.severngaspumps.com

I, too, have some 1006 curved glasses, at least one with the Esso Extra ad panel made to it. Contact me and I'll see if I can get you some pictures.

Thanks for the help guys; hopefully I can come up with some Esso extra glass for this pump. Am I correct in assuming that the advertising part (Esso extra) was on the back top of the curved face glass?(Not 2 seperate pieces; the curved glass and the advertising glass?)

the advertising was originally separate, the glass is of course glass and the advertising was plastic with a wire at the bottom and four clips at the top..later they made the glass with screened on advertising,,, buy what these guys are selling you on here,,, it is good stuff , you will not paint the black in the area's on the serial plate so it will look good, I don't think.

One more question; would the gilbarco 1006 have had a globe on top, or not? I see it has the ability to have a globe, but read somewhere that this vintage of pump rare had a globe. Any opinions?

Esso rarely had globes on that pump, and it is also from an era where globes became more uncommon.

Is there a decal out there that would work? I have been searching but haven't yet found an esso extra that would fit that glass.
