This sign was found years ago in east Alabama at a bulk plant. It is painted tin and about 28" by 42" with holes for the numbers which are about 17.5 inches apart vertically. How common is this sign? And I would appreciate an estimate of its value.

I have a simular one in my collection that says Pure Oil gasoline instead of the Firebird. I bought it with no numbers a few years back for 140. Yours is the first one I've seen since I bought mine.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the info. I had wondered about this sign because I haven't seen many metal signs with the firebird logo. Pure made some nice small signs over the years, but it would have been something if they had made a porcelain pump plate with the firebird. I have a couple of plastic firebird signs that go on a pump, but I really like porcelain. Thanks again for your help.

I dug my sign out so you can see the differance. I agree on the firebird signs as I have a number of the plastic ones and always wondered why no porcelain. I have one that is a NOS that I bought from a guy whos dad worked at the Plastic company that injected the firebird signs. its just the outer face with no backing plate or outer mldg.

That is a cool sign, I would bet that the numbers for both of these are the same size.

Your plastic firebird sign sounds like the two that I have

These do not have the trim or backer like yours. But they are mint except for the small holes drilled in the edges to display them. I consider these and the two shell pump signs to be some of the most desirable plastic signs.
