Hey guys, I was looking around yesterday at antique stores. I saw a huge chicken, about 4 feet tall. It was cast iron, heavy! It had been restored. It said Hancock Oil at the bottom, on the base. It was painted on, not part of the base.
I don't think that was real, was it? There was no price on it, it was sold. It was in a store with some other really nice stuff, some gas stuff too. I didn't have my camera with me.
Any thoughts?
I remember the good old days when gold was worth more than rust!

Good Morning Elvis... I'm guessing that you went to Snohomish. That sounds like the Chicken at the "Black Cat". It is not real... but pretty cool, Huh! That is new "Garden Art". Mike, the owner of the store, painted it as you saw it... added a few $$ to the price and sold it for $600.00 or so. I'm considering ordering one from him (unpainted) for my place... since I have chickens... but no rooster.
Did you see the Bennett "Phillips 66" Pump?
That used to be mine... I used it as part payment for my 53-MGTD.

Frank, If you have chickens, but no rooster...Does that mean the chickens come first...or is it the rooster?

First the Chicken, then the Rooster... Then the Chicken and the Rooster... then the Egg.
Then the Rooster left town...
Your guess is as good as mine, as to why.
Oh, by the way, my wife and I are gonna be in Portland next weekend. She wants to do some Christmas shopping and I want to see the "Advertising Museum"... Any other places I might like???

Hello, Frank! I'll likely be at my shop Saturday and you are welcome to stop by, just call first. I'm in downtown, if thats where you are going to be. The advertising museum that was downtown closed. I was real disappointed about that. You might try Glenn Zirkles' collection. He's about 5 min. out of downtown. Certainly worth seeing. He has a HUGE collection of porcelain signs and gas pumps.
