I need a set of the screws and the nuts for the gill rings. Who sells these? Anyone have some extras they can part with?
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Jarvis: If all you need is the actual bolts and nuts, just get some brass ones from Home Depot/Lowes. (I'm sure there's a joke in there someplace ) If you need the rings too - well, I can't help you there. Later . . . Jim ------------------ www.T-waysGraphics.com

Jim, Yes the bolt is the same but the nuts are a barrel style nut with a hat on top with a flat on one side.
No joke on this one. LOL Sometimes you never know though.

John:
That may be true for Original nuts - but do they have to be exact?
My 'repro' Gill body 'clamping' ring just has a brass bolt and a regular brass nut.
Later . . .

John, Are you referring to what is known as an acorn nut (also known as a cap nut)? I have never seen this style nut holding together a Gill ring. All I've ever seen is a slotted round head brass screw with a plain hex nut, just as T-Way described...

Oops, I stand corrected, I spaced out there! I do know the sleeve style retainer with the flat on one side that John is referring to. More like a longer, threaded female retainer about a 1/2" long or so as a guess. Have you tried some of the bigger vendors who sell the repro globes? They might have some lying around...

I tried to take a photo of the part in question. The part on the left is a repro that comes with the rings on the repro gill ripple body. The one on the right is an original. They are pretty close but the original is slightly longer and the top is slightly rounded where the repro is flat. The top of both is round with one side being flat to butt up against the metal ring. They are just over one half inch long. [This message has been edited by wfort39663 (edited 12-15-2005).] [This message has been edited by wfort39663 (edited 12-15-2005).]

I talked to the guy Wed. that made the repop ripples and he is going to sell me a few of these nuts. He said he would check to see if he has any bands left... if he does he would sell me a set. Thanks guys for the help.
Does anyone know if the repop bands fit the original gills?

The repop rings will go on a gill body but don't fit very well. I think the channel bends aren't just right and the rings seem to be too small. You might have to use longer screws to make it work.

If I had an original I could probably make one... I used to work in a machine shop, and still quasi-work there...
