I recently came across a brass nozzle and now I want to polish it. I have the compounds and a polishing wheel, but I assume I should clean the nozzel before I start to polish it. What should I use to clean it first? Thanks for any help.

Soak it in vinegar and water first until the schmutz loosens up and brushes off. Regards.

I use TarnX works great and fast, its usually by the kitchen metal cleaners at Wal-Mart in a black bottle with white lettering cost around 5 bucks.
Also have great luck with Krud Kutter from any large home supply store a gallon goes for around 11 bucks and is great for any type of oil or grease removal.
Good luck.

why would you clean it, you have to sand it down using different grads of paper anyway, if you want a mirror finish.

Subjective but some, including myself, like a more original sand cast finish...but still polished.
