The bottom of the globe measures a hair over 6 inches across.... I'm guessing I need the brass type, but whatever will work. Lyle

Yeah I wasn't for sure... that's why I said whatever will work. Does the age of crown determin what metal was used? If a clue would help... my globe has cast out of the glass property of standard oil co. on the lowest ridge.

Just for clarification, collars for crowns have a 6" threaded opening with the bottom flange being 7" across. On standard glass bodys the threaded opening is 5" across and the bottom flange is 6" across. As mentioned above both types were made in several different types of metal.
