Is there a good book on how to take apart, clean and restore a pump ? I just hauled home a Tokheim 620.
I don't want to "over restore", just clean up all the severe rust and repaint.

Anyone ? Anyone ?

I'm starting to take apart what liquid wrench allows me to. I'd rather not break something.....

Common sense is the best guide. Gentle on any chrome and cast pieces, remember, patience is a virtue, and will save you money in the end. A straight pump, with a fine new coat of paint, and some time spent detailing will bring pleanty of compliments from your friends, Good Luck..........Lance

Hi Melton,

The best books that are available right now are the Gas Pump Collectors Guide by Benjamin/Henderson of Petroleum Collectibles Monthly and Gas Pump Restoration for the Enthusiast by Fred Hunt fhunt@ncia.net .
You can also purchase photocopies of original gas pump parts / assembly breakdowns from many sources including Time Passages , Jack Sim, Seth Robbins of Vic's and Ron Scobie.
There are a couple of new gas pump books in the works but it will be a while before either is available.

I've ordered the collectors guide, and sent Fred an email. Thanks for the info.
I'm cleaning up the pump now, seems that the pump still works after all these years (1929).
