This question has probably been answered before, but as I looked around this site and searched it , I couldn't find anything? I got two pumps that too my surprise last two serial # s end 25 and the other pump 26, brothers so to speak. Is this common , if all pumps came from the same station? Of course if the pumps are the same abrand. My brother inlaw pointed it out, i don't even think I would have checked the tag. One other question is why are some pump face plates metal and some porcelain? Thanks

Over the years I have heard of a number of pumps with consectutive numbers, I even had two ECO Islanders with con. numbers.
Yes, some pumps had aluminum, metal, or porcelain face plates.

Consecutive numbers is very hard to come by.

I would think that if multiple pumps were ordered new for the same location that there would be a pretty good chance that they would have consecutive serial numbers. They built them together, packed them up and shipped them together. Finding them together after 70 years is still possible, but not routine.

These two A38s are very cool now very special and thanks to the responses, when they order these pumps from the factory, does the factory make them a Mobil brand or does the buyer make and paint the pumps the certain brand. Thanks

I was just over to a fiend of mine's shop to look at his bicycle collection which I will post pictures of in the general discusion area. He had two Tokheim 300 pumps with consecutive numbers he had bought at a bulk plant sale. Not for sale. Mitch

Consecutive serial #'s is quite common on new pumps/dispensers shipped to the same site. It's not uncommon to see 6 to 8 units like this ,at one location. It is usually when they get replaced, that they get seperated ...Sold off to smaller operators that need only one or two.. Then when these smaller operators sell them off.. they get seperated again..

Here they are, they are in great shape with good original glass and free computer. Even George wanted a photo op with them.

Outstanding pair of survivor pumps! The consecutive numbers and original branding elements make the pair even more enjoyable to a collector.
My suggestion would be to paint only the white door and sight glass panel on The Mobilgas Special pump and clear with a matte finish clear.

The A38's are a great find, still in great shape. Not long ago I saw a branded pair of 36B's with station lighters and consecutive numbers. Both above mentioned are great finds in my book...

That was going to be the my next question Jim and Tunk was about the color scheme, I enjoy seeing some a38s with a one of the side arches to be white, but also would like to see what others have done. I haven't found new rubbers for the glass in Vic's or Gp heaven Does any one know where to get them or what's comparable . Thanks Matt
