I dont think I've seen one of these globes http://cgi.ebay.com/Standard-Motor-Gasol...1QQcmdZViewItem or even heard of one that I recall... what was it used for, and how does the spark plug come into play? Great graphic and condition, at least from the pic.

Anybody?

Thanks... Brian

Thats a chimney cap globe that someone has rigged a spark plug in. I don't have a clue why the plug is there or what purpose the plug would have.

Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.

...something about this from the other forum:
http://bigcheesepetro.com/phpBBpitstop/viewtopic.php?t=2033

...I've seen one of these globes before, it was listed as for sale on a vendor site; I called to find out how much it was - as there was no price listed - but the vendor said it was already sold, and was all 'hush-hush' about the sale and we couldn't find out how much it went for...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

It looks to me that it may have been rigged up to burn natural gas or propane. If there were a glass chimney inside, and a gas line at the bottom, would that be a possibility?

Lets look at it this way. Supose no one had invented something that would make a light blind go on and off yet, so someone rigged up this so that the spark from the plug lit up the light on a regular basis. Possibly off something like a distributor.
Logical?
