I looked at the thread a guy messaged it to me but even in the thread the 4 pictures shown of real one all of the r's were all different. I'm not saying it's not a repop because i'm not 100% sure it's not, but it does have some chipping that would seemingly take some time to happen to a sign.

I am not an expert on these signs by any means, but I can tell you that I could take a brand new 20 dollar reproduction porcelain sign and make it look old with chips in less than five minutes.
I am not saying that this is what you are doing or did. Having the mentality that it is original because it has some chips in it is probably a good thought process to get away from.
FREEDOM oil items wanted.

I was looking for an original for an original unrestored sinclair pump I have and evryone I talked to said the same thing, "colors are colors but the number one thing to look for is the unfinished "r" and your sign has an unfinished r. And as Ryan says, it takes only minutes to make a repop sign look old with chips and rust.
Thanks Mike

go to the above thread and look at the r on the end of Sinclair. the r is not square like it should be on end of the curve. if you look at the thread you can tell on the signs that are side by side. here it is again: http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=50528&Number=318430#Post318430

I noticed that as well. Is the plate on the left in that link a repo then?

I'm looking at the two R's.
other than the repo has more of an elongated curve versus the sharper curve on the real deal, I have a hard time telling them apart.
The darker green is certainly easier to spot

Ya looks like I guess. This sign I have must be a fairly old repop to be chipped like that. It seems there is different opinions as far as these pump plates being repops but I not qualified to say myself. So does anyone have an idea on value if it's not an original?

The green on the picture is darker than it looks to the eye. Ill take another picture in the light and see if it looks lighter
