IMO, the "interested" party is a tire kicker, the one who wants it and has the cash would be the winner/buyer in my world. If you had posted a photo and had a good description of the item, what more is there to ask? Either you want it or you don't. Just my thoughts.....

I've had a similar issue in the past. I'd contact the first PM and give them a day to "Take it" otherwise it's sold. I would then explain my decision to my "I Will Take It" buyer, telling him that you wanted to be completely upfront. It is the way he'd want to be treated, if the shoe was on the other foot, I'm sure? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

I've sold a lot thru here and the "I'll take it" people mean just that. That is as good as the first one that shows up with cash when selling in person.
My experience with "I'm interested" and similar posts usually end up with a lower offer or just no response at all.

I've had several people back out on this type of stuff.

I agree with Advertologist "CASH TALKS"

Set a dead line for payment, if its not made move on to the next person.

Paul is right on with his comment, there was just a top and frame in picture the interested party wanted to know what else there was there etc. I would think. Some times no matter how hard you try to be fair, someone will be upset. good luck with the sale.

Opinion poll was taken on this very same subject in May.

If it were a show, and not the internet, and you had a interested person come by, look at the item, and say well "I'm interested, but not right now", then a buyer comes up, with cash saying "I want it." Would you tell the buyer that someone might be interested in it, and turn down his cash in hand? That's what I always think about when things like this happen to me.

Just my two cents,
Brandon Ferguson

At the end of the day; the item is yours and it can only be "your decision" as to who gets it. Another privilege of ownership.

I have sold items for less then what another person has offered simply because the person has helped me add an item to my collection in the past. Then there are others who have failed to co-operate (in my opinion) with me when they had something I wanted. Well, we have all heard; Revenge is a dish best served cold...

Tire kickers and "I'll be back" are the norm at shows. It's the money that comes to your hand first that gets the sale.

On Oldgas I've normally handled as first come first right of refusal within a reasonable time. Thus, PM A gets first right to refuse the price and I tell PM B,C,D.. that if A doesn't take the item(s) they have their shot.

The only thing that has got me here recently is these posts with several items and no prices. I got bypassed on two different occasions where I was the first or second to pm the seller that I "was interested" only to be told they were already sold. What i wanted was the price of the item. I wasn't going to say I would take it without knowing a price, I'm not sure many of us would. Now that we have the "with prices" rule on the forum, this should make things easier in this regard. In one case the seller also posted a phone number, which I should have just called and forgot the pm business. I suspect that is how i missed the item as i know the one pm ahead of me was interested in another item. If there's a price posted, the first "I'll take it" should get it regardless of how he contacted the seller.......guess we just have to trust the seller to give it to that buyer....GB.

I saw the pump in question & had thoughts that the Dark picture left a lot of questions unanswered.

Not having time to read all that others have said, this is my feeling on the issue. And this only applies to the internet. If someone contacts you saying they are interested, and 1 second later someone says "I want it". Well i feel the first person deserves his chance. Saying they're interested should also be read as they have cash. They may just have a question and I dont think they should be shunned for that. However the seller does have the right to bring up that someone is standing right behind them with cash and is ready to buy.

Just my quick 2 cents.
