I know of a gentleman that bought a couple of visibles from a station in the 50's and installed them on his farm. The globes that were on them when he bought them are still on top of them. One is a "CALSO' and the other is a "FLIGHT". They look like 13"? with metal bodies. I've implored him to at least take the globes inside to protect them, but he says he enjoys just looking at them where they are. Can anyone fill me in as to which oil company had these products? Thanks

DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE "FLIGHT" BRAND, BUT "CALSO" IS CALIFORNIA STANDARD OIL. WAS ACTUALLY A WELL KNOWN BRAND HERE ON THE EAST COAST FOR ABOUT 8-11 YEARS BEFORE BEING RE-BRANDED AS CHEVRON. I AM LOOKING FOR A CALSO SUPREME OR CALSO GASOLINE GLOBE OR AT LEAST ONE LENS. PREFER 13.5" IN THE RED, WHITE AND BLACK LOGO!
HOPE THIS HELPS!

I didn't of course take a tape measurer with me, but they just don't look like they're 15". The next time I'm there, I'll try to look closer. It did look like they were metal bodies however. Were there ever any 13" metal bodies? I know one of the pumps is a G&B T176. The other I didn't recognize. Along with not having a tape measurer, I didn't have Mr Sims's pump bible!

Hey There About those Calso and Flight globes.....Everyone is right in their answers.....HOWEVER...as KYSOILMAN stated....The ones you are talking about were for the off-shoot of Standard Oil Company of California called......THE CALIFORNIA COMPANY. To add to what DOC at The American Garage said.......The "Calso" of the Eastern Seaboard existed from right after WWII and was another off shoot called THE CALIFORNIA OIL COMPANY better known as Calso. Both were Calso.....but after WWII, Calso in the Rocky Mountain states (WYOMING, NORTH AND SOUTH DAKOTA, NEBRASKA & COLORADO) was changed to Chevron......Then Standard of California moved the Calso name to the Eastern Seaboard so that they could "sneak in" under the radar of the 1911 monopoly break up clause and go up against the other "Standards" of ESSO and MOBIL and Atlantic....and try to have some impact along the East Coast. The Calso and Flight Globes your friend has represents the marketing for that division between the early 1930's through 1946. Flight Gasoline was the low end gasoline for both Standard of California and The California Company. For a low end gasoline, it was the most graphic globes that they had.....and simple graphics at that. The Flight globe your friend has should have the colors of blue and green with white background. Same for the Calso one. Pretty desireable globes. So everyone is right including values but they reply was more specific. BY THE WAY.....there are three different globes I know of for the Eastern Seaboard Calso...in 13.5" only.......Calso Supreme with a green back ground,......then the common Red background for Supreme and the matching Calso Gasoline one....then in 1958...Calso was changed to Chevron on the Eastern Seaboard and Calso was put the rest. Hope this enhances this posting. GET SOME PICTURES FOR US TO DROOL OVER.

What do you guys think about these globes? Mr. Groilier is at least 90 and doesn't want to take them inside for safe-keeping. I think I'll keep working in him or his son to get them out of harms way. It's amazing to me they've survived this long. We have unbelievable hail storms around here just about every summer. I know one of the pumps is a G&B 176, and the other is a Wayne of some kind.
