I have a Tokheim 300 that I starting to restore...this is my first gas pump restoration. My question is about the frozen ON/OFF switch. I searched around on this site but didnít find my answer. Sorry in advance if the question has been answered before. Does the stem suppose to turn or is this a push/pull switch? Should they be some type of knob or handle on the end of the switch?

It's push pull. No knob on mine.

There is not supposed to be a knob or handle on it. I cannot remember off the top of my head if the switch on that pump is a push pull or a twist. Pull the cover off the electrical switch box and take a look.

Jeff Any chance you could take a picture of the inside where the switch is ? Trying to figure out the wiring and how that whole thing worked. Mine was all apart but I think all the parts are there. Would there be a wiring diagram available ? Mine is a national 360 similar to tokeim 300.

I haven't looked on how everything is wired up except for the lighting. The white wire that's pulled out of the box goes to the pump's lights along with the black wire that is at the very top-left. I will try and get a better pic or descripting tomorrow on the rest of the wiring

If you can you should change that wiring in there. That is aluminium wiring and when you hook new copper wiring to it and can cause a fire.

The wire in the pump is plated copper. Used in alot of petroleum situations because its corrosive resistance.

Just finishing my 300 and getting ready to set the doors and attach the locks.
When I did mine I stripped out all the old as with the tar and cloth you don't know what's underneath ? I ran all new around the side of the reset and wrapped heavily and down the cast switch box to a nice on/ off cast switch box w/ on & off switch with a short nipple down to a enclosed weatherproof timer mounted on the old pump mount ears with a pig tail plug to about a foot from bottom of the base plate.

Here is how I see the wiring. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not showing that they are 3 lights...but you can figure that part out. My motor was missing and the wires were cut in the lower box. I do have 4 wires between the box to the switch. I will replace the old wiring and maybe to the wiper motor trick like foxlincoln1 did his pump.

My pump is A 1955 300 model and has a three light socket light fixture which I re-wired and is working. Two lighting the frt. and rear faceplates and one for the globe on top.
Looked at my paperwork and it shows two different light towers. # 12907 for serial # 3-31352 and # 13347 light fixture after pump serial # 3-31352 the last one has an additional pilot light assembly.

Thanks for the picture. I am guessing the push pull switch is for lighting? I don't have the motor or pump in mine so I guess I can hook the lights up to the push pull switch? What is your thinking on that?

All that switch ever did was turn on/off the lights. To pump gas, just like today; Remove nozzle & raise flipper [push button/select octane].

Whether you have/had 1 bulb or 20, it's wired the same.
