Hi everyone, pleased to join the OldGas community and take part in the shop-talk that is Petrolina.

Have a very tired Wayne 866 pump that I am in the process of resurrecting. A few parts missing so look forward to discussing what I need and knowledge on how to get the old girl restored.

Also a keen admirer of the Eco Air Meter's with a 37 model on its way to me soon. Also into restoring classic muscle cars from Australia but thats another story!

Look forward to taking part in the forums. smile

Welcome to one of the most distant members!

This is the first time I've written on this site, but couldn't go without saying hello -- I went to high school (you call it college) back in 1972, on a private Exchange program in Warkworth, NZ (about 40 miles north of you). Loved the country and people there.

I have similar interests like you -- working on finishing up a second Wayne 492 (one in Texaco red and this one in silver - regular/ethyl finish)

I have 2 Eco 26's - fluted and regular stands

Also into muscle/classic cars -- currently working on a '54 Corvette restoration... question for you, what was 'hot' car's name that NZ had back in the 70's...I've tried to remember/locate a photo of it...

Anyway, welcome to OG...wealth of information and good people here!

From an old Kiwi! Dave

Hi Dave, great to hear from someone who spent some time over here and calls himself a Kiwi:-)

Warkworth has certainly grown since you were last there but its still considered a small town on the main highway north. The seventies would have been a great time to be there then - big Ford Falcon GT's, Holden Monaro GTS's and Chrysler Valiant Chargers cruised the streets then.

Am restoring a 1969 Holden Monaro GTS at the moment. Love the 54 Vettes! The classic early shape, hope the part supply is good for these models.

2x Wayne 492's - I like them, very bold and handsome looking pumps indeed in those colors. Have not seen Eco 26's before - they sound increadibly rare and very art deco which I love.

You may need to elaborate a little on the "hot car's" question for me. Am pretty sure I can answer it for you once I have some more info. Might even be able to get a photo for you.

Cheers
Aaron

Aaron,

Thanks for the quick reply -- it was the Chrysler Valiant Chargers that I was looking for, thanks!

I will "attempt" to upload two pictures of the Eco 26's and the Wayne 492 projects, that I previously described...have the correct Texaco Globes, but my garage ceiling is about 6 inches to low frown

Anyway, good luck on your projects!

Good talking with you, Dave

Hi Dave,

Great shots! Love those Eco's and the Wayne's are pretty impressive - shame your room is just a little too low - the bane of all Petrolina Enthusiasts! Great setup, am aspiring to put a room together like that sometime soon. Great setup!

Here is a link to some of the "Hey Charger" advertising that was going around NZ/Australia during the 1970's:

All the best with the Vette Dave, good talking with you also:-)

Regards
Aaron
