I had a question about a curb sign I've found. It's a quaker state and has been painted over and used as another sign. I was talking to the fellow that had it and he had used it as a barricade and thats why it had been painted. I flaked off some of the paint where it was peeling, and saw the green under it but some of the green came off as well and it was green paint and not porcelain chips. so I diddnt get it and my question is were these green tombstone signs all porcelain or were there painted varieties as well?

thanks, I hated to pass it up but it was so heavily painted over that stripping it was my only option & it would've left me with a nice plain piece of steel! thank you for the info.

Early are Porcelain, later are Painted. Stand is worth something IF Correct for QS. Take that into consideration IF price is cheap enough. Try Oven Cleaner on worst side/corner to strip newer paint off older paint.

...and don't leave it on long at all - it's a good idea to have a garden hose at the ready to wash it off before it cuts too deep...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
