Hello everyone, I am a novice trying to put this Tokheim 620b pump together. Right now I have a couple of questions about the cylinder rods. I counted the holes and there seems to be 11 rods. With the pump I bought I only received 6. I wanted to know the size of the rods and are they all threaded and threaded on both sides? I thank anyone for there expert help.

Also I forget to ask the size of the rods? They say the cylinder is 27 inch. So are the rods 27 inch also or a little longer? Thanks

Did you measure the rods you received w/ pump? Rods are typically threaded 1" on bottom & 2" on top to allow for adjustment.

I haven't had a 620 in several years. IF you don't have a cylinder, cut a large enough piece of sturdy cardboard 27" wide x 38" long & roll into a tube, tape ends together. Place tube where cyl goes & place cyl. top plate on. Measure the length you need, allow 1/4" for cork/neoprene gaskets [1/8" top & bottom of glass cyl.].

Easier to paint all new rods than a few old ones. After placing Glass Cyl. in pump DO NOT TIGHTEN Rods, finger tight is enough [cyl's are expensive & whether it's your 1st or last to Break, it's still a SICKENING FEELING].
I don't remember if you need 5/16" or 3/8" dia rods. [Brass Plating last longer than solid Brass Polished] When I needed rods for 2 Romans, I couldn't find SS rod in a surplus store, store owner sold me Titanium then I had to get a machinist to cut threads! They will Never Rust.

Great, Sounds good. Ya after reading all the stories about cylinders, I hope I have learned enough to be very careful. Also Thanks for the tip about just hand tightening the rods that will be helpful.

When was the last time you purchased an item that didn't come with a instruction manual. Every time Tokheim made a new pump the published a Parts/Repair manual. http://petrolianacollectibles.com/tokheim%20620.htmJack Sim
