Subject: Computer Security Stuff

I don't write things like this often.. please read it. You may want to tell your friends. I emailed most everyone I could think of using a blind carbon copy, which means I think it is prett

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know what is happening with computer security right now. Things have not been this risky for a while and it has the potential to cause a ton of problems. These are my recommendations to you and your families.

#1) If you are using Windows XP still... stop if you are doing any banking or activity involving personally identifiable information. Upgrade or replace your computer.

2) The Heartbleed bug which you may have read about is not a virus.. it is a flaw in the security programming of websites which is similar to making locks that anyone can open. There is a vulnerability which exists in websites throughout the Internet which may or may not concern money.

My recommendation, change all of your personal banking passwords. A full list of affected sites is listed here http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heart...ites-affected/ or search for it yourself or watch the news.

3) There is a vulnerability in Internet Explorer (the web browser with the blue E) that was just released TODAY. The Department of Homeland Security recommended users stop using Internet Explorer immediately. Not a bad idea. It should be fixed shortly, Microsoft is working on it, it involves Adobe Flash.

My recommendation is the use Chrome, Firefox or Opera for business related browsing. In my opinion, casual, non banking, can be done through Internet Explorer.
