I offered him $3000... have only seen 3 for sale in last 20 yrs--this one, one in better condition for $7500 and one that was mint (NOS) that I passed on 15 years ago for $1500 (kick myself in retrospect on that one--considering the prices I'm seeing now it would likely command $10k now).
