The G&B 996 had a production run from 1947 to 1953. Your pump was manufactureed in 1949. All Gilbarco 996 came with a Gilbarco nozzle, with Gilbarco engraved in the nozzle. Keep in mind that nozzles were an exchange item and lasted less that a year. When they malfunctioned the service station operator went to the shelf and took a rebuilt nozzle out of a box and exchanged it. Every couple of weeks the rebuilder would stop by, pick up the broken nozzles and leave rebuilt ones in their place. So the chance that the original nozzle is on any gas pump is almost impossible. They just made their rounds eventually being retired because they were so worn out they could not be rebuilt. The same is true for the Veeder-Root computers.
If you are interested, I have color ads, sales literature and parts/repair manuals for the 996. I also have a few of the correct Gilbarco nozzles for your pump. If interested, you can email me at: jhsim@swbell.net
