just came across this, I've seen a few and heard that SOE stood for Standard Oil Employee and they were a car ID badge of some sort. Anybody know for sure? It measures 3 inches across, thanks.

It's in one of the porcelain sign books. Description is same as you stated.

It is what you said. I have one the same size W/O the S.O.E. [possibly used for company or contractor truck/equip.]
Most were attached to Radiators.

Neil here is ours front and back. Owned this one 25 years or more. Ditto on what the other guys said where they were used.

And the original bear statue still resides at Chevron's Richmond Refy (where Zerolene was originally formulated)!
