I usually do not post the things that come to me here now but this was a unique story I believe. I guess the things are still out there as others have attested to.
A guy walked up to my house and saw me working in the driveway. Now I do not like people in my yard, but the guy who was with me thought that this guy needed to talk with me. Turns out he got my card about 7 years ago at a swap meet and remembered my gas cart. His father passed away and his mother now is in a home. He wanted to sell these items and remembered me. He told me he had a few things, but what got my attention was a old cart that he had that was for gas. He said he would send pictures, How many times have I heard that. Well he did and I was on the phone. Sure enough he had quite a few things from their old used car lot. I am not into most of this stuff, but he did want to possibly get all out of his way. He restores Fords. The cart that I have been looking for the wheels as my advertisements on old gas have asked was there and with the whole cart. To make matters better, He had the Key to the lock on the handle of this pump on the cart. I searched for years for my lock never mind the Key. Hose nozzle and all.
The funny thing about this all was like my other story from 20 years ago. He was two blocks away.

Have not seem one of them since going to an old Mobil station by the house. In fact found out years later it was a Gilmore station.

Just for kicks... what road is/was the station on? I assume were talkin' in Portland. I'll see if I have a name in my data list of Gilmore stations.

It was on the corner of Greeley and Lombard. The old name for Lombard was Dawson.

Guess I don't have that one, Craig. I have about 200 Gilmore station names for Portland, but none located there. :-(
Have 'em at...
LOMBARD & ALBINA LOMBARD & PORTSMOUTH LOMBARD & WALL KILLINGSWORTH & GREELEY
The website below is pretty cool. Shows vintage Portland shots, a lot of service stations. Have you seen it before?...

Yes, great sight. Have a building at Lombard and Fiske that is on there and we restored it back to the way it looks there, without the signs though.
