Hi Guys,

Just picked up this station (disassembled). I have found several pictures of similar stations, but none have identified the builder. Anyone out there know what company made these?

That looks like lots of fun. Any idea what brand of gas was sold there and what time frame it is from?

I believe there were several makers on the prefab buildings, but here in one you may be able to research.

You may want to contact Ben Eckart for information. He is restoring an Enarco station, and has done extensive research on a couple of companies which made prefab station. One was Butler Manufacturing, and the other was Union Metal Mfg. Co., out of Canton, Ohio. Not sure if it is the same that made yours, but he may be able to provide some information. I can only say Associated, Gilmore and Chevron had a zillion of these in Southern California . I would ask Dick Bennett on this building . They seem to have been made several ways as in a deep office , you seem to have a 12 X 12 . There were one with the same canopy without a restroom or storage room in the rear too. Ed Shaver

This type of station was purchased from a petroleum equipment supplier's catalog.

Columbian Steel Tank Co., made many stations like these in the late 1920s. Wish I had time to look through the 100s of pictures of old stations that I have in my files, but I'm trying to get the gas pump ID book finished.

Thanks for your responses guys. I have found four pictures on the web of other stations that are versions of mine. All seem to have been out in California, so I am thinking the manufacturer may have been an west coast business. They all have flat roofs that actually pitch towards the center of the building and then drain at the back, so they were probably not marketed in snow country.

check for a serial number or any number on the inside of the door frame. there was a company that made these and did a limited number of stations. I don't recall the name, but they are a great collectible if it's one of the numbered stations.

Thanks to an Old Gasser who was able to identify my station as having been made by the Pacific Steel Building Corporation of Los Angeles, CA.
