I bought a Wayne 60 several months ago and finally got around to taking it all apart to be blasted and painted. When I removed the side panels, I could see that the frame still had orange paint on it. Other than Phillips, is there any other company that used orange?
I've been struggling with what company to display on the pump and seeing the orange made me reconsider some of my other ideas.
Thanks Mac

Sorry for delay in responding, but have been pretty busy. Took the Wayne 60 to be blasted and DP'd. Should have it back this weekend. Are we talking about Johnson Gasoline "Time Tells"....with the hour glass?
Secretly, I was hoping for Phillips 66.
Took the veeder root to the carwash today and gave it a good blasting with soap and water......cleaned up really nice. The numbers whitened up nice! The computer turns freely and the bell dings.
Other than Johnson and Phillips, is there any other company that would have used orange? I'm not overly concerned with being "period correct" as some are, but am looking for other options..........
Was thinking Sunrise Gasoline too, but haven't seen any Wayne 60's done in Sunrise. Thought the "sunrise" on the globe might look cool with an "orangy" sunburst?
Thoughts?
Mac

Do you mean Sunray or Sunset? Never heard of a Sunrise Gasoline.

Let's see, Sunrise would have to be an east coast brand, Sunset a west coast brand. We also had "Sunland".
How about Sun of a ....gun!

Mr. Mac, Tidewater Oil company used orange. As a matter of fact the Tydol colors (orange & black) very closely match those of Johnson Oil Company. Good luck with my favorite pump!!!! Can't wait to see it when it's finished, be sure to post some pictures.

I know they weren't in Illinois, but Husky had pumps that were orange... either solid orange or orange sides and tops with white doors..... Lance has two 15" globes to pick from if you want to be different... Richard... why don't you put the pic of your 60 on here so we can all see it..... bob

Thanks for the feedback. Hadn't considered Tydol, but that might look pretty cool.
When I typed "sunrise", I meant sunset. Apparently, I'd had a few too many when I logged on. Thanks for the good ideas.
Will post pics when I get'r done.
Thanks
Mac

I had a pump that I, like you wondered what brand it was and after the blasting, under the right light we could see the name clearly in the metal. I dont know how or why but it was clearly there down to the last detail like it was etched in.After I discovered this I started watching for it. See the door of a Wayne 70 I did:
