Can anybody give me the approximate/average height of most visible pumps like say the G&B176, Hayes, Fry, etc. with globe. I don't need anything exact but am trying to figure out whether or not to put the ceiling , or part of it, in my new addition high enough to accommodate a few visibles down the road and I don't have one handy to measure. I was thinking you need about a ten foot ceiling to have room for most of them, am I close? Thanks.....GB

My garage has 13 foot ceilings and has about 3 inches between the top of my TALL ten visibles with globe and the ceiling. If I was to build one I would go 13 feet. Unless you find a 15 gallon pump!!!

I have a 12 foot ceiling in my office. I have an Ottawa in my office with a 15 inch globe on it. There is about 16-20 inches of room from the top of the globe to the ceiling.

That will put your globe close to the ceiling on a Fry 117. I have 10.5' ceilings and have a little room with the pump on the floor w/o a wooden base. Dave

That's what I was afraid of. I think I'm going to have to just display any visibles out in the main shop area where I've got a 16' ceiling. I'm building the display room inside the shop so that I can gain some storage floor space above it. If I go any higher than 9' it is going to make it hard to utilize the upstairs area. Thanks for the input everyone....GB

My ceiling height is 11'6" and houses a Wayne 615 with a Red Crown globe. I have at least a foot to spare and it is all sitting on castors 6" off the floor.

Fry 17 tall cast iron base is 8'6" without Globe height. I have a 10'8" ceiling and can use both 13" and 15" globe.

As a general rule, I allow 10ft for pump and 12ft with globe
