Correct, the 505 is described as a "Extended Hose", the 500 was a "Concealed Hose." For more information see: http://petrolianacollectibles.com/wayne%20500-505-1950.htmBut if I were you I wouldn't lay the pump down on the ground, they scratch easily. Jack Sim

The 605 has one sight glass down on the side opposite the nozzle, not two in the top like the 505. Also has the auto reset handle for the VR on the same side as the nozzle, not the manual crank on the opposite side. At least that's the way mine is. All models came with or without ad glass...GB

Here is a 500 that I just finished for a customer. It was designed the same time as the 505 but had the retractable hose as Jack said earlier. The 605 was a later model version of the same design. I just finished this pump for a museum and did a lot of research on them. I was able to get a nos users manual and a bunch of original advertising from Jack for the project that showed all the model information on the 500 series pumps and included the info in a notebook for them. They wanted the pump restored to look exactly as the advertising portrayed it, hence the special ad glass with the model of the pump instead of a brand. The art exhibit that this pump will be a part of is commemorating the designer of the pump. He designed numerous industrial and art objects back in the early fifties and sixties and the pump is only one of several objects he designed in the exhibit. I am supposed to get more information from them on the particulars of the exhibit and when I do I plan to post a little story on the whole project....

Hi Gary
Beautiful pump, from what I can see in your photo you have done an excellent job.
I think by looking at your pump and referencing the pictures on Jacks site (plan on buying a Wayne manual from Jack), it is a 505 with the two sight glass in the top and the manual crank on the opposite side. The only difference I see, is as Jack mentioned, mine has the set up for the retractable cable that attaches on the hose as opposed to your 500 Gary, with the "Concealed Hose”.
I have learned a lot today.
Thank you to all for your help.
Jeff

For sure a 605. I don't know why but I love the 505 and 605 pumps
Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________ Looking for any old pumps, or nice 5 gallon cans.

It looks like a 505 with 605 faces. The 505's that I have seen uses the flat face and uses a computer and the number wheels are set "level". The 605's that I have seen uses the faces that point upward and the wheels on the computer face slightly upward as well to match the contour of he face. Brady

Noticed the difference from some pictures I researched today. My two theories are 1 it is a combination of the two pumps to make one. Or 2 it could be a transitional pump or converted to the 605 face and pump during a repair / update to the 505.
Will have to look at maybe converting it back to the proper face and computer.
Do you think that would be money well spent or leave as is ?
Thank you for the input and information.
