I recently acquired a gas pump.I don't ave any info other than the model is a sv1-1. This pump has a top on it that has a banner ribbon and motor for ( I guess) advertisement to be displayed. Does anyone have any info for this pump that might help me in restoring it?

Sounds like a Gilbarco Sell a vision. Circa 1950? I have one pictured under [1950's gas pumps] on my web site. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Anyway of telling the actual date of this pump, is there a serial number or any other ID on it? Mine doesn't have the "V" (chevron) under the glass flow indicator, it has a stainless ban horizontal under the flow indicator. I am missing the lift pump, the face plates that hide the price/gallon mechanism, nozzel and one of the glass flow indicator (the glass bubble) is broke. I would like to find literature about the pump and any tricks in helping restoring it.

Hey Dave,
You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of your pump with the covers removed would you? I'm trying to find out what I need to complete the one I have.

I found one a few weeks ago also but mine isn't in as good of shape as Dave's either. It was all there except for one door. I think they were all made in the early fifties but not sure how long they were produced. Most of the common parts should interchange with the 994-996 series Gilbarco pumps but the ad top and mechanism is a different story. The motor in mine is in bad shape due to a broken conduit allowing water in to corrode the motor. I am exploring options to get it rebuilt or to retrofit a motor somehow but everything is there on mine, I just have to restore it all to work. I have some pictures of mine during disassembly and can email them to you if you like. My email is in my profile, shoot me a note and I will do that tomorrow or Monday.....Gary

Hey Dave,
Is your gas pump a 994 or 996?

It's a 996. The 996 had a retractable hose and 994 didn't.

Guess mine is a 996 too although the tags don't show that number anywhere. Does yours say 996 on the tag Dave? Mine just has SELLAVISION on the Gilbarco tag and says SV1-1 on the ss shield behind the rest crank.....GB
