There was a 72" Old Dutch Gas sign that was auctioned off at Vic's last saturday. Anyone know what it went for? Just curious.

Hi Seth, Do you sell or give out or post the final prices that were achieved at your auction? Would be great to know what to pay for items found on the ranch etc! Thanx, Les

Auction prices are nice to know, but don't think they are the final word on pricing. Auction prices, swap meet prices (selling, not asking price), ebay, availability, desireability, and many other factors set the market value.
I recently saw a common Eco air meter sell for $2000 + 10% buyers premium at an auction. That doesn't mean that Eco air meters are worth $2200. It just means that at least two bidders got caught up in a bidding war at the auction. Bob

Lastgas is 100% on the 'money' on auction prices determining the value of an object. For example, I was at a sale 2 years ago where a Mobilgas 3pc. wide bodied globe went for $450, but saw the same globe last fall sell at auction for $175 so go figure?? And this sale was very well attended, standing room only. It just depends who is there to bid, what mood they are in, what else is being offered, etc.

If you go to the website that "hosted" the auction, you can click on "past auctions" or something like that. It will ask you to register, but its free to do so. Once registered, you can see auction results. As said before, its a data point.

I agree! Viewing past auction results is a great feature on Bidspotters.com. Go to: http://www.bidspotter.com/ Click on "Past Events" and register as Brian said. Painless and worth your time and effort to see the results. ------------------ OldgasYour host and moderator
