I finished my 671 this weekend installing the end covers . This came off a 1972 jimmy 238 Detroit diesel . Wanted to duplicate the red color of my reo speed-wagon , but the cast metal sprayed over the red made more of a purple tint. Still planning on making my little reo a texaco mini tank truck. Wanted the red to pop through the metal cast. Purple and texaco I don't think mix?

Don't know what process you used to apply the cast metal but if you want a red shiny finish I would powder coat it. Powder coat should withstand the temps on a blower, they never get extremely hot and the powder is cured at around 400 degrees. I have used some high heat powders if you thought heat might be a problem. You'll have to get the purple stuff off or at least sanded smooth before the powder goes on. Cool blower but I agree that the color is kinda subdued.....GB

Powder coating is sure for sure nice Gary . This purple is eww . I will have to remask and find the correct color combo. I am wanting the ratty look , this was high heat paint so I will have to experiment . Maybe orange and metal cast will get the color red I need.
