nochevys 1940s map has 3 variations.
The "prewar" map he posted,
An "Oil is Ammunition" distributed during WWII.
And after the war they put a V.E.P sticker over them, presumably to use already printed maps, post-war.

1986 & 1978 MARATHON MAPS OF FINDLAY. I BELIEVE THESE WERE COMPANY HANDOUTS TO VISITORS BECAUSE OF THE DETAIL OF VARIOUS COMPANY BUILDINGS, OFFICES, PARKING LOTS, ETC.

FOR MANY YEARS MARATHON USED DIFFERENT COVERS FOR MAPS OF STATES IN AND OUT OF THERE MARKETING AREAS. SOMESTIMES THE DIFFERENCES WERE SMALL SUCH AS MORE COLORS, ETC.
THE 1950-51-52 HAD NUMBEROUS DIFFERENCES.THE OUT OF MARKETING AREA TOP MAP IS A TRI-FOLD WITH A MUCH MORE GRAPHIC PICTURE, WHILE THE IN IS A BI-FOLD.

I don't have any maps to add to this MOTM but I'm enjoying seeing what you guys are posting.
Does anyone have any Linco maps they can post?

Here's one--the edges were cropped, as I was using the image for another purpose. When I can get to them, I'll post a couple more.

Note the colors on the one Dave posted above.

The Ohio Oil Company bought Transcontinental Oil in 1930.
That is where the "Marathon" name came from.
The colors of Transcontinental were a "cream" or "ivory", Green, and Orange.
The Ohio used these same colors for Marathon Branded items up unto the late 1930's, before switching to Red and White.

Does anyone know if Transcontinental Oil ever put out Maps?
I have never seen one.

Chuck

Here is a 1934 Linco map, I unfolded it a bit to show the great shot of the Linco, beacon. One thing about maps ,is that the graphics and advertising inside is really good.Norm.

Some more from the 1980's.
The map on the left from 1985 is darker than the one printed in 1983 in the middle.
I only know of 5 states put out on the PBA-4 maps.

An end to the "Free Map" era.
This is the last map I have seen with Marathon Company Advertising. And it is on the inside of the back cover.
From 1995.
I love the RWB Eagle Promo they used in stations at that time.
There have been some local issue maps with local dealer ads, but not Company Sponsored ones.

I think we can call this the FIRST Marathon map .
Was actually put out by Transcontinental Oil in the 1920's.
Which originally used the Marathon name until The Ohio bought them.

Does anyone have one of these? Can you give us more info on it?

A rare map I just received.
In the Linco style but says Marathon.
From the 1930's
